I Neighed This Stuff?

Happy 4th of July!

After visiting the Braids4Gro blog...I have it admit this Diva was in awe. Get at that blog, ya'll. This Diva isn't playing!

I used to wear braids back in the day but it was for styling purposes only. Now I'm on a mission. *dancing like Big Daddy Kane* Once I stop relaxing my hair it turned to hell. It was my own fault of course but that's my business, right?

So there are a few treatments/ regimens I'd like to run passed ya.

Pre Poo:
I've looked at various sites and found that a simple pre poo can help maintain moisture that a shampoo can rob your hair of. People use different methods so I'm not exactly sure what my end recipe will be for sure but I'll start somewhere.
  • Rosemary oil
  • Peppermint oil
  • Jojoba oil or EVOO
  • Honey
  • Conditioner
  • Coconut Oil
Mix the contents into a squeeze bottle. Section off hair and apply directly to the scalp. Massage lightly. Wrap hair (a doobie) and cover with a warm towel, cap, saran wrap, or whatever is available. Let on hair for about a half hour or overnight. Rinse, shampoo, condition. Deep Conditioning is always optional.

Deep Conditioning :

This is the most flexible regimen I've had! I'm still trying to figure out what my hair wants from me. Currently, I'm taking the "Au Naturel" route. This particular regimen is done weave free. I'm trying to find a good one to use with braids...any suggestions?
  • Honey
  • Plain Yogurt
  • EVOO
  • ripe Avocado
  • extremely ripe Banana
Mash or chop your fruit. In a blender; NOT a chopper (Being a foodie I take this personal) slowly add your fruit and blend in liquefy mode. With some blenders you might want to add the yogurt as you blend to help break down chunks. Add the rest and blend well. Apply to your scalp then hair and cap it. Let this stay on for at least an hour (capped). Rinse well...and move on. PLEASE note: For some reason a lot of people claim to have issues getting the chunks out. I'm not sure why or how this happens for them but understand that "stuff" happens.

There has been a lot of Divas screaming about Mega-Tek. OMG this is hard to ignore! From what I see, a lot of people either stretch the product or add essential oils as a back up. I'm going to try a little of both.

Growth Aid:

Not sure what the big controversy is exactly but hey, I really wouldn't want to be interested in finding out either. Hugs Love yourself as in individual not as a project to your peers....or be like you when you grow up.
I've seen a BUNCH of abbreviations here and there but for the life of me I can't seem to figure some out. I've seen Shapley's MTG (from what I understand it's smells like who-did-it-and-ran), MN (Miconazole nitrate) and Sulfur 8, and more (I can't think of.) A lot can be overwhelming but I must say don't let anyone's side eye stop you. If it doesn't work or isn't for you than...it doesn't work and it isn't for you.
  • Mega Tek (can't wait to try this)
  • Jojoba Oil or
  • EVOO (extra virgin olive oil)
  • refined Emu oil (Yes, I DID say Emu oil...Google it!)
  • Rosemary oil
I want to try Amla...to be continued

Ahhh Diva, You are too sweet!!! Guurrl that megatek aint no JOKE! Be careful tho because some people get alot of shedding from it. So far I have been lucky. Just make sure to avoid protein overload. As for deep conditioning in braids I suggest you do it like you normally do. Your pre-poo method sounds good! I have been trying to find your post where you posted a picture of your braids...but no luck...I know I saw something. Girl you know I am going to be on ya blog 24/7 since you talkin about my favorite thing...braids! LOL!

Thanks Diva. Well noted. I have to proceed with caution anyway because I've been experiencing major breakage. I NOW understand what people say when they mention that their hair break/ broke off from the root.

I REALLY appreciate your two cents about my methods. Your hair has amazing growth, for real. I'm too proud of you.

Oh be on the look out for a Tag! I also subbed your YouTube. Can't seem to find the mayo....

I think the only braid pic was The Plaited Diva Route?
